Through my experiences so far in life, there is one thing that I have realized both for me and for my clients. Inner confidence is the key to it all.

There are all kinds of strategies, ways of thinking, patterns of behavior and practical tips for improving your life and feeling better about yourself, but they’re all redundant if the foundation isn’t there. That foundation is the real you, the you that you know deep down you are. The trick is that it takes confidence to find that and to bring out who you are – here are the three keys to real inner confidence.

1. Get To Know Your Values With Confidence

Personal values are a big passion of mine and I often get carried away with myself when I talk about them. I make no apology for that though – they’re one of the most important things you can know about yourself and are vital in getting genuine inner confidence. Your values are ten thousand feet down inside you, right at the very core of who you are; and they’re the building blocks, the foundations and cornerstones for you. A value is something in yourself, in others or in the world that’s most important to you, and could include things like beliefs, progress, family, fun, nature, achievement or freedom.

Why is it that some people and situations leave you feeling angry, frustrated, demotivated or deflated? It’s because one or more of your values is being denied, suppressed or repressed – and we experience that as a negative experience because it’s denying a fundamental piece of who you are. You know those times when you’ve felt really alive, amazing or buzzing? Those are the times when one or more of your values are being honored, and you can get more of that by living according to them.

Your values are all yours, and no matter what happens, no one can ever take them away. You can have absolute confidence in them because they’re there all the time just waiting for you to notice and use them. When you get to know your values, you can start to make choices and align your life around them. It’s so simple and it feels amazing because all that really means is that you’re allowing who you are to live in the real world.

2. Exercise the Muscle of Confidence

Confidence is a muscle, and like any muscle you need to exercise it so that it doesn’t shrink and waste away. The problem is that unlike your biceps or glutes, which tend to stay in the same place, your confidence muscle can be harder to find. How do you develop your biceps or firm up your glutes? By doing exercises that are designed to work that muscle over a period of time until you see the results you were looking for.

It’s just the same with confidence. Let’s say that you’re the kind of person that doesn’t take many risks, the kind of person who goes through each day doing what needs to be done and doing it well, but not really stretching yourself. You might talk yourself out of doing something because it’s too scary or because you think to yourself ‘I’m not good enough,’ ‘that’s not who I am’ or ‘I don’t really want it anyway.’ That kind of person lives within what they know and what keeps them safe and comfortable. The fewer risks they take, the less confident they need to be and so the less confident they become.

To work your confidence muscle you need to be prepared to take risks – big or small. You need to be willing to stretch yourself in an unfamiliar direction, to try something new or try something in a slightly different way. You need to open yourself up to the possibilities around you and push yourself to increase what you know, what you do and who you are. The more open you are to risk, opportunity and possibility the more confident you need to be, and so the more confidence you’ll develop. That’s your confidence muscle – the question is, what are you going to do to exercise it?”

7 Reasons Goal Setting Is Important  https://marydibblecoaching.com/2023/03/16/7-reasons-goal-setting-is-important/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=7-reasons-goal-setting-is-important https://marydibblecoaching.com/2023/03/16/7-reasons-goal-setting-is-important/#respond Thu, 16 Mar 2023 16:42:05 +0000 https://marydibblecoaching.com/?p=319

When one discovers their purpose in life, it is one thing to know it and a whole other to pursue it. Without setting a goal that aligns with your purpose, there is no way to truly make that purpose a reality in your life. Goal setting is such an important tool to ensure you take action and make things happen so you can reach whatever it is you desire in your life.
Here are 7 reasons why goal setting is important:

1. Goal setting to give direction to life

While it can be fun to live without direction in the short-term, in the long-term human beings are wired to need a purpose and direction. Goals give a sense of direction and purpose to life.

2. Goal setting to make sure we are the one choosing the direction of our life — not others, not fate, not the media, etc.

It is often easy to let others set our direction for us. We take a job because family or friends point us in that direction and then we follow the dictates of our bosses. We move in other directions because popular culture or the media tells us to do so. The simple truth is that if we do not set our own goals then we will find it too easy to follow a path set by others. This can lead to stress and unhappiness. We have a greater chance of happiness and fulfillment following our own path and pursuing our own goals.

3. Goal seting to motivate

While goals certainly give our lives direction, they also provide the motivation to get us through difficult times and choices. Perhaps going to college at night while working full-time may be stressful and difficult in the short-term, but in the long run being able to pursue the professional goals we desire will make it worthwhile.

4. Goal setting to make sure we get what we want from life

Goals also serve as the destination for what we really want out of life. For some people, goals are measured in money or material goods, while for others goals are measured in time or freedom. If we do not have goals outlined that suit our unique perspective on life it is easy to become sidetracked by life and others.

5. Goal setting to save time

Goals can also help save time. When your “To Do” list becomes too long and your calendar too full, then you can simply compare your goals to the list. What items help you achieve your goal? What items are necessary to your goal? Scratch off the rest as unimportant.

6. Goal setting to reduce stress

Just as goals save time, they also reduce stress because using your goals to focus your life and choices makes it easier to make those choices. Should you take that new position at work? How does it match your goals?

7. Goal setting to give a sense of accomplishment

Finally, goals give you a measurable sense of accomplishment. Every goal you achieve, in fact every step you make toward that goal, can give you a boost of energy and momentum to keep going. Each success powers you toward the next level of success.

Now go out and set your goals!

Oftentimes stress will manifest when we carry over yesterday’s concerns into our present day concerns. An accumulation will almost always end up in a high stress level. Therefore, we must be able to “dump” all our concerns from the previous day or days and concentrate wholly on our today.

Stress is such an awful waste of energy and yet so many of us struggle with it daily. When I started to make changes that prevented me from allowing stress to get the best of me, it made such an amazing difference not only mentally, but physically.

So here are 3 stress busting tips

– Stress Busting Tip #1

Resolve right now to release every thought from yesterday and be only mindful of the now…. this thought only…this breath…this moment. Take three very deep breaths and slowly release each one.

At the same time feel each and every concern, each and every problem, and each and every unresolved moment, begin to dissolve. You can deal with them at a later time. For now, you are only to be in this very moment.

Now go to your inner quiet place. Go deep inside to a place where you feel that you are at peace and then just relax and breathe in deeply and enjoy the feeling of being at one and at peace within yourself.

Use this special time and place to be calm. Free your mind and body of all worry, all regret, all disappointment, all anger and grief.

 – Stress Busting Tip #2

Next, think of one particular act, such as rocking your baby, taking a quick stroll, raking the leaves, and do that one simple thing. All the while, your mind is quiet and calm and you are in your own special place within.

Practice this act of quiet and calm each day and you will see that you will accomplish so much more. At the first sign of being stressed, go back to this mindful, quiet place and start all over again until you have reached your inner place of calm.

 – Stress Busting Tip #3

The very best thing that you can do for yourself is to eat, drink and rest – to your health!

Stress is easily brought on by not eating and drinking properly. When you don’t get the number of hours of sleep that you need each night, you are only setting yourself up for additional stress.

Limit the amount of salt, sugar, caffeine and alcohol in your diet. Drink plenty of clean, pure water each day and do at least moderate exercise each day. This will breathe new life into your skin, hair and will nourish all of your vital organs.

Take time to breathe properly! Take deep belly breaths to send pure oxygen to all of your body. Laugh and then laugh some more. It is food for the soul! Spend time doing the things that please you most. Engage in healthy and fulfilling relationships and work on problems that would erode the closeness that you have with someone special.

When we are content and living a balanced life everyday stresses seem to pale in comparison. We are better equipped to deal with the unexpected.

You can take control today! Isolate only one particular stressor in your life and then work on it until you regain control. At the very least, have some new hope!

2 Simple Ways To Enhance Your Growth

Written by Mary

I don’t know about you, but sometimes I feel less than great. Low, grouchy, fed-up, and bored are all words you could use to describe what I’m like on those days and I’m probably not the best company. The thing is days like those are part of the deal with being human – it’s not an elective. There will always be off days, and that’s okay.

But what happens when you get a whole string of those off-days, maybe lasting weeks, months or even years? Too many of us say that we’re in a rut, feel stuck, fed-up, or bored and admit that we don’t want things to be that way, but we don’t know what to do to change. That’s the problem, when you’re in a rut, you don’t have the energy or motivation to change things for the better, and it’s tough to find the insight or resources you need to make that jump.

Here are five fun and easy ways you can use right now to climb, or better yet, leap, out of the rut and start to get something better for yourself.

1. Do Something Differently
Life tends to run smoothly when we establish systems and routines for things, but the problem comes when things run too smoothly, and we become blinded to any ideas or choices that sit outside of our routine. All the stuff we do every day becomes the norm, running on autopilot, and it becomes our whole world.

Start with making one or two simple changes to your day – be it at breakfast time, your radio station, gym routine, route to work, lunch routine, etc. Don’t worry about what the changes are or whether they’re right or wrong, just make a couple of simple choices that will serve you well.

Doing something differently or changing parts of your routine, instantly takes you out of the norm and allows you to shake off the things that make you feel confined. Step out of your routine and you’ll be in a position where you’re able to make different choices, see things differently and get a different result.

2. Use your Intuition
Your intuition is a powerful ally, and we all have it even though you might not recognize it. The dictionary says that intuition is:

1.a. The act or faculty of knowing or sensing without the use of rational processes; immediate cognition.
1.b. Knowledge gained using this faculty; a perceptive insight.
2. A sense of something not evident or deducible; an impression.

One of the best friends you’ll ever have in life is your intuition, and tuning into it and learning to trust it is something that can have some truly remarkable effects. Accessing your intuition is a bit like working and developing a muscle, but unfortunately it can be harder to locate than a bicep or quadricep, which tend to stay in the same place. Here are some quick tips for accessing and trusting it.

• Practice maintaining an open-minded, playful, experimental, non-judgmental attitude. This is the most fertile ground to tap into your intuition.

• Practice making wild guesses in your everyday life. Guess what a salesperson’s name is, what a new person or place will look like or who’s calling on the phone. Don’t worry about getting it wrong, you’re just working that muscle.

• Try a few simple observation exercises in your daily life. Whether you’re in a restaurant, on a train, in a bar, or out shopping, practice noticing non-verbal behavior in others. Look for shifts in posture, eye movements, vocal tone or tempo, etc. Guess how they’re feeling or what they’re talking about.

The Power of Focus https://marydibblecoaching.com/2023/03/09/the-power-of-focus/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=the-power-of-focus https://marydibblecoaching.com/2023/03/09/the-power-of-focus/#respond Thu, 09 Mar 2023 03:04:55 +0000 https://marydibblecoaching.com/?p=154

A lot of people ask me, “How do you do it? How do you manage a job at home with 2 little kids running around?” There are many times I wonder how I am doing it myself. There are days that I have so much going on and at the start of the day I can’t help but think about all of it at once and I get overwhelmed and feel like crawling back in bed and just running away from it all. I felt like I was being pulled in a hundred different directions at the same time all the time.

For a while there I allowed the stress of it all to get the better of me. I dealt with so much anxiety and frustration over things I had no or little control over. I would yell at my kids or go to the bathroom and cry my eyes out until I was able to get it together to continue with whatever was going on. I would tell customers it was like working and running a daycare at the same time. I felt like pulling my hair out more times than I can count. I felt like I was going to lose it. The crazy part of it all was the fact that no matter how much I had on my plate or how bizarre the day was going, I still managed to get everything done and then some with plenty of time left over.

I slowly began recognizing that about myself and changing my perspective of how I was handling my day-to-day duties. Instead of thinking of everything that needed to be done at once and allowing my mind to become anxious or overwhelmed, I started to just take one task at a time and just work towards it. With my work of course there are several distractions and unknown situations that arise that takes me off track not to mention having young children is unpredictable when it comes to changing dirty diapers, feeding, entertaining, etc., but at the core, I stopped focusing on what had not been done yet and placed my focus on what I was doing at that time.

Another change I made was the language I used towards myself. Instead of coming at myself with a “poor me” type approach for having so much on my plate, I started to vocalize and realize I was a badass mom who was making it happen. I was awesome at getting work done while taking time to educate my kids, feed them, play with them, and keep them on a routine as I did my job duties and dealt with whatever came my way customer-wise that needed to be dealt with sporadically. I started to compliment and encourage myself as I accomplished tasks throughout my day.

 “You go girl”

“You got this”

“You’re the bomb”

When I stopped focusing on the lack of and put my focus on the abundance and what all I was capable of, it made all the difference I needed.

What you focus on will become your reality. That is such a powerful statement and truth that goes beyond what most of us comprehend

Think about your relationship with money for instance. When you think about money are you focused on the lack of having it or on how abundant you are even if you may not be where you want currently? For so long as I focused on all I had to get done in order to feel good, I also focused on my lack of having enough money to live the way I want.

That led me to constantly struggle in my life. I had no idea I was attracting my own struggles just by what I was focused on. I created anxiety by focusing on all that I had to get done all at once as if I did not have enough time in the day. There was always plenty of time and all that stress was such a waste of energy and put me in a terrible state of mind to not only start off my day but carry it throughout my day. I was so mentally exhausted at the end of my day that I hardly had anything left of myself to give my family. That was so unfair to them, especially my husband who didn’t get to see me until later in the evening.

Once I placed my focus on just how awesome I was at what I do, and acknowledged and praised that about myself, it was like this huge shift in my life came out of nowhere. I started my day in a positive state of mind knowing that I was capable of getting everything done, knowing what an amazing mother I am, that my kids would be taken care of, and would also be seeing how hard working of a mother I am that would instill good work ethics into them as well. I started even changing my focus on money from lack of to the abundance I not only already had but knew was on its way to me. I saw my anxiety disappear. I saw my energy growing more and more each day. I was able to give my family more of me than before. I was in a better mood and just happier overall. I was able to handle things in such a way I once thought was impossible.

You deserve the same. You deserve to be good to yourself and recognize how hard you work and how awesome you are. Only you can claim it and own it. Only you can make that choice on what you focus on and what you attract into your life.

9 Ways To Combat Fear  https://marydibblecoaching.com/2023/03/08/9-ways-to-combat-fear/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=9-ways-to-combat-fear https://marydibblecoaching.com/2023/03/08/9-ways-to-combat-fear/#respond Wed, 08 Mar 2023 02:48:20 +0000 https://marydibblecoaching.com/?p=147

Fear gets to the best of us, whether it is fear of failure, fear of success or even fear of fear. All of us have experienced fear at some point in our lives and it can be a real stumbling block that holds us back from being truly successful.

For most of my life, I allowed fear to rule my actions. The fear stemmed from many things. Fear of abandonment, fear of failure, fear of disappointment, fear of losing, fear of not being good enough. My fears led to my need for the approval of others which led me to be a people pleaser to the point that I did so much for others that I never really knew how to do for me. I never put myself first. I never loved me. I didn’t really know who I was. I tried to be whatever I needed to be for the person I had in my life at the time.

Thankfully, in time I was taught ways to combat my fears and as I started making these changes, I began seeing real change that shifted my way of thinking that then changed my life in such a powerful way.

If you are reading this, then that shows bravery alone that you know that there needs to be change in some way in order to make your life better. Combating fear is a major step in building courage and starting to get control back so you can start living the life you want.

Fear can’t hold you back forever, if you don’t let it. There are several ways to overcome fear, here are my top 9:

 1. SEPARATE REALITY FROM PERCEPTION

We all create our own realities. The challenge is to be able to take that step back and separate what you see as your reality from your perception of it. Ask yourself what is really going on, locate the facts and place them over your feelings. A lot of times we can work to find evidence of the things we fear or believe that can prove those false. The more we step out of believing things that we were told we should believe and start looking for our own evidence behind it, then we can start to think for ourselves and understand that our perception of things will lead to our realities of what we end up believing and accepting as is.

2. IDENTIFY THE TRIGGER

Figure out what it is in a situation that triggers you. Learning to identify it will help you learn to combat it. Think back to your childhood or any past experiences that may have been the starting point that created that trigger in the first place. The more you become aware of those triggers and see how you react because of them, the more power you gain over it because you then can decide to change the way you respond to it and choose to start feeling differently about it.

3. KNOW WHERE FEAR LIVES IN YOUR BODY

Often, fear takes over physically. It affects different people in different ways. Identify if/how it affects your physical body and do the work to take care of your body. Ex: if you hold stress in your back, you can learn stretches, foam rolling, etc. to avoid the pain.

 4. PRACTICE GRATITUDE

Every day, list out 1-3 things you are thankful for in a gratitude journal. It doesn’t matter how big or small it is, gratitude helps shift the mind into a positive light, which overtime overcomes fear.

Gratitude is a powerful emotion that can help you to also shift what you attract in your life. It can help change your perspective of your life and help you see how great things are even if you may not be exactly where you want to right now. It can help drive you to keep moving forward and getting more and more of what you want. It will also help you find happiness within yourself now instead of feeling like you need something in order to be happy.

 5. LISTEN TO YOUR INNER VOICE

Monitor your inner conversations. If you wouldn’t say it to a friend, don’t say it to yourself. Speak positively to yourself and remind yourself of your strengths. Remind yourself of your worth and your capabilities. Create affirmations to help you speak positively about yourself so you can become courageous and combat your fears that have been holding you back.

 6. CREATE A NEW ASSOCIATION

Remind yourself that the feeling and the moment will pass. Focus on the positive outcome of the situation, rather than the scary in-between. They say it takes 90 seconds to feel an emotion. You should allow yourself to feel it and accept it. Give it no more than that 90 seconds and then choose to focus on a better way of looking at whatever it is. Overtime, you will see that the 90 seconds gets less and less before you shift out of that emotion and are able to turn it around for the better.

 7. LOOK AT THE GLASS HALF FULL

Perception is a very powerful thing, and how you feel about your situation dictates how you respond. So, think positively and you’ll give yourself a much better chance of success. This won’t happen overnight; practice with just one thought. What is one recurring negative/fearful thought you have? Work on reversing this one thought. Overtime, this will become a habit.

 8. PRACTICE BREATHING EXERCISES

Breathing helps center your body; when you stop breathing, your heart stops beating. You can do a grounding exercise, or even just take 5 deep, long breaths at any point to calm and center yourself. It is best to start your day with this, but feel free to practice all day long.

 9. CREATE A SAFE SPACE

When you feel safe and secure, there is no room for fear. Find somewhere safe you can retreat to when ill feelings begin- whether this is a real place such as your bedroom, or a place in your mind such as the beach. This sense of comfort will soothe you and allow you to face your fear.

Please keep in mind, these are just 9 strategies, not everything works for everyone. But this is a place to start. Start implementing these techniques into your life and don’t let fear hold you back from reaching your goals and your highest potential this year!

If you want to dive deeper into these and other practices that can help you face your fears, then feel free to contact me and let’s get connected to see how I can help you on your journey of combating your fears so you can begin creating the life you want.
